Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner (Benefits, Ingredients & Review)

Updated: Jun 21

“TikTok made me buy it!”. It's crazy that I am saying this, as I rarely ever give in to TikTok trends, but I am glad I did this time. I am a huge fan of Korean skincare, specifically because of how hydrating and soothing their products are.

Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner

But in an industry where a lot of products are similar, finding one that stands out takes a lot of trial and error. The Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner certainly stood out for me as the best toner I used in 2023 and if you are curious to know whether it's worth the hype, I am going to tell you why for me, it is.

My Experience With The Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner

I introduced this product in my routine at the start of winter, as my skin becomes more sensitive when temperatures drop. To put it to the test, I equally introduced a retinol serum to my routine that purged my skin out causing some redness and irritation around my mouth, under my eye, and cheek area.

I was looking for something that will hydrate and soothe my skin and that is exactly what I got. This toner has a light texture and looks like plain water, but once I applied it to my face I felt an instant relief and my skin felt hydrated as well as soft. I want to highlight that the finish texture unlike other toners was a soft satin feel, which I enjoyed.

I used this product 2x a day; in the morning as the first step in my routine, and at night after cleansing my skin for extra hydration. Furthermore, I was impressed at how effective it was to soothe my usually dry and itchy skin in the morning as well as the irritation.

What Is The Heartleaf Extract Used By Anua?

There is no way I will talk about the heartleaf toner without first touching on the heartleaf extract (psst… It's becoming one of my favorites too) and why it has become so popular. As is often the case in skincare, now and then certain actives rise in popularity for multiple reasons. While the heartleaf extract also known as Houttuynia Cordata, has been used for years in Asian traditional medicine. It has recently been introduced into skincare due to its numerous benefits.

The heartleaf plant contains rich amino and fatty acids that help strengthen the skin barrier and get rid of blackheads. In addition to this, it is known for its hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties as well as its ability to regulate sebum production in the skin. This means that single-handedly, the heartleaf extract can be of benefit to most skin types.

Anua Heartleaf Toner Ingredients

Other than the amazing heartleaf extract, this toner equally blends a variety of actives that are equally noteworthy:

  • Centella Asiatica: Enhances skin by boosting collagen, reducing inflammation, and increasing hydration. It heals, minimizes scars, offers antioxidant protection, and soothes, especially for sensitive and acne-prone skin.

  • Panthenol: Deeply hydrates skin, reduces inflammation, and helps with healing. It strengthens the skin barrier, improves elasticity, and soothes irritation, making skin smoother and softer.

  • Chaste berry Extract: Chaste berry extract from Monk's Pepper is prized in skin care for its phyto-endorphins. They can enhance skin radiance, provide anti-aging benefits, and contribute to healthier, more vibrant skin due to their mood-boosting and beneficial properties. Chaste berry extract also helps moisturize and promote a natural tan, leading to younger, healthier-looking skin.

  • Purslane extract: Soothes irritation, offers strong antioxidant benefits, hydrates deeply, and promotes skin healing. It enhances skin elasticity and fights signs of aging for a healthier, youthful complexion.
